Temptation is Needed

In the weeks leading up to New Years Eve I had questions about D&C 89:17 and the reference to mild drinks being made of barley. I have talked to the elders’ quorum president and the first councilor in my ward. They both advised me to rely on the words of the prophets. I took their suggestions and began to search out the words of the prophets. After several trips to the churches website to search through church doctrines I have not found a real answer.

I have gone back to those men in my ward and told them what I had found, and not found. They too said they were interested and that they would look into my questions personally and get back to me. It’s going on three weeks now without either one of them approaching me with any information. So I know pose the same question to anyone out there whom might help me understand what is meant by the mild drink made of barely. If you do find something you ought to check the original date it was said. I have found at least one apostle whom has said beer and alcohol are bad that has become prophet.

I have read where the apostles have prompted against the consumption of beer, and alcohol. When referencing “beer and alcohol” it seems if there is some type of difference made between the two. Is not beer alcohol? There is made reference in D&C 89 of wine and strong drink as not to be good. When I have mentioned the mild drinks made of barley, some members have made reference to non-alcoholic beers which you can find in stores. We know what defines a strong drink, and taking from that meaning of a strong drink to define a mild drink is rather straightforward. To be a mild drink it must not mean this is a reference to a non-alcoholic drink as then it would not be mild.

These members have also said that “It’s better not to be tempted” to them I say this. All temptation is of the Devil and not of God; adversaries cannot overpower those who hearken unto the word of God. This being said, I believe that you should not seek out temptation as it will surely find you wherever you are. When you are tempted remember that it is needed and ask God to strengthen you and give you the wisdom to overcome. Temptation is a nessary part of life and be thankful that you have been tempted. (James 1:12, D&C 29:39)

Obama, State of our Nation & Faith

Last night I had a conversation about President Elect Obama. We were reflecting on Obama's ideas of change; and how his idea is more like a tag line than an idea. President Obama has opened a website http://www.change.org/, where there are lists of ideas that you can cast up to ten votes for. We found it interesting that out of all the ideas "Legalize the Medicinal and Recreational Use of Marijuana" is the most popular idea that the voters on the site would like President Obama to work on. This was followed by "Appoint Secretary of Peace in Department of Peace and Non-Violence" so that we can combat terrorists with non-violent tactics.

It is a remarkable spin on the Presidency to ask the public what they should work on. To give the multitude what they want, this is a brilliant idea. The people will be so happy for being given what they covet they will never notice anything else; Peace, love and pass the bong. Nobody will think about the economy, healthcare, or the constant annihilation of our personal freedoms through things like the Patriot Act and the Acts that have followed. We as a country are moving away from the founding principles of our country and "God we Trust" and to Satanism in its truest form. They will take away our free agency, and we will be forced to do what is right. We are turning into a Godless society and the punishment for such will be terrible. (2 Nephi 1:9-11. D&C 10:50-70)

I also have taken notice of people saying "not to worry" as we are going to make change for the better with the new President. To them I say, things are going to get far worse. It is a needed thing for them to grow worse, as it has been written that they would. Things written in the Bible and Book of Mormon regarding the last days will come to pass. (Matthew 26:54-56, D&C 1:37-39, D&C 29:9-10)

In the hard times now and to come, when it seems life is too hard and is beating me down, I'll remember that even the pains in life are blessings from God that have been given to us so we may grow. (Mosiah 3:19 & Romans 5: 1-5)

I'll end this posting now as I have given the true readers a lot to think about. I hope this helps in the times to come, so you will remember the words of the prophets and hold to your faith.

The Genocide of Africa

The killing of millions in Africa has for the most part gone unnoticed by the mainstream media since 1983 in the Sudan. In past decades the wars have spread from country to country with no sign of stopping. The displacement of millions has led to the deaths of more people than were killed by the conflicts. The aid these people are given is passive and does nothing but prolong these peoples’ suffering.

I am an advocate of Save Darfur and have been for over a year now. Educating myself on the conflicts in Africa; things I have read or witnessed on videos repulse me. Atrocities that are currently taking place have made me take a stance on these issues. We as a people can continue to “feed the children” and help the displaced refugees, yet if we ignore the reasons for the peoples’ problems the killing will not end until the native people of these countries are destroyed.

I pose you all to rent the movie, “The Devil came on Horseback” and "God grew tired of us" watch these for their entirety. I also ask you to do your own research and not listen to the propaganda of the mass media. I would ask people to stop allowing others to shape your views and trusting what you are told so blindly. Seeing these things has made me ashamed of the American Government for not doing more to aid these people. I am ashamed for not doing more…

In these days when the opinion of the United States has fallen across the world, there is an entire continent of people asking for our aid. We cannot rely on the U.N. as they have proven time and time again they will not support the needed efforts, their own aid workers have embarked on abuses of the people they have been sent to protect. In many cases it’s a militant Muslim backed government whom calls for the annihilation of the indigenous population. If the United States wants an ally against the radical Muslim faction and a staging ground from where to assault the Middle East when necessary, I say help and Arm these people.

Politics is the new Religion...

With the Presidential indoctrination at hand my thoughts are turned to our country. The conclusion is the United States is the beast spoken of in Revelations. We as a nation break the commandments of our God and are praised from within. God's gift of free will is being choked off to the point were we are truly becoming a Godless nation.

People are indoctrinated from birth to which of the two parties they will vote. We as a nation are so blinded by propaganda that you would rather defend your political parties with more vigor than your God. Regardless if your parties actions you would defend them blindly. This goes for both sides of the isle, as lady justice in this country is truly blind. For our nationalism is a visor; citizens of our country would believe the United States of America can do no wrong within global affairs as “We” were always acting rightly. Woe to us as a nation as we people do not think or govern ourselves and have allowed others to dictate our actions based on what they feel is best for us.

Our votes in this country have not truly counted for the Electoral College is allowed to cast its vote for anyone whom is on the ballot regardless of the popular vote. It is the current practice of the Electoral College to cast their vote on the side of the popular vote, however twice in our nation’s history they have not. I and others like me fear someday they will elect someone no one wanted into office as to suit there own agendas. Again woe to us...

Andresen Migration to America 1903

My Great Grandfather (Andrew Andresen) came to the United States 1903. Andrew was born near Larvik, Norway, in 1883. In 1903 he came to Brooklyn, New York, and served for some time as a sailor on the American coast. When his parents, a sister, and two brothers came to America and settled in Milwaukee in 1905, he joined them there in the spring of 1906, and began to sail on the Great Lakes. In 1918 he was licensed as captain.

In 1911 he was married to Gerda Louise Olsen. Gerda and Andrew had three children; Royden Garfield Andresen (1911), Kathleen Rosenthal Andresen (1912), Chester Morris Andresen (1914) all born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Royden my Grandfather married June Fluke and had two children Gary Royden Andresen, and Karen Andresen. Gary, my father married Terri Anderson, adopted my sisters Shannon and Karleen conceived my youngest sister Sara and me .

This is where I will begin my journal of the Andresen’s at the present day 2009. One-hundred and three years of Andresens in North America. I am trying to learn where I have come from in hopes of learning where I will go.
